NSU Cybersecurity Center Launches Free Training Program to Build Future Cyber Defenders

North South University’s Cybersecurity Center has launched an exciting opportunity for students eager to explore the rapidly growing field of digital security, announcing a comprehensive training program available at no cost to participants.

The initiative welcomes students from every academic background and department, breaking down traditional barriers that often limit cybersecurity education to technical disciplines. First-time learners need not worry about prerequisites for the initial course, as the program has been designed to accommodate complete beginners alongside those with existing interest in the field.

Participants will receive instruction directly from NSU’s own faculty members working alongside seasoned cybersecurity professionals, ensuring a blend of academic rigor and real-world expertise. The structured program offers two progressive learning pathways, starting with foundational concepts in digital hygiene and cyber awareness before advancing to more sophisticated topics including risk evaluation and incident management.

The first training module spans twelve hours and introduces participants to essential concepts such as common digital threats, strategies for protecting personal devices and accounts, safe practices across social media and cloud platforms, and opportunities for micro-enterprise apprenticeships. Students who successfully complete this foundational course gain eligibility to advance to the second module.

The advanced twenty-six-hour course delves deeper into professional cybersecurity practices, covering threat modeling methodologies, vulnerability assessment techniques, incident response planning, detection mechanisms, communication protocols during security events, and legal considerations in cyber incident handling. This second tier specifically targets students who have demonstrated commitment through completion of the initial training and subsequent evaluations.
Both courses provide weekend scheduling to accommodate academic commitments, with the added benefit of refreshments and meals provided throughout the sessions. Upon finishing each course, participants receive official certificates recognizing their achievement.

The training program operates through support from the APAC Cybersecurity Fund managed by The Asia Foundation, with additional backing from CyberPeace Institute, Global Cyber Alliance, and Google.org, reflecting the international significance of developing cybersecurity talent in the region.

Prospective participants must complete an online evaluation form accessible through the university’s registration portal. With capacity limited to one hundred twenty students, organizers emphasize the importance of prompt application submission to secure a spot in this competitive program.

The registration window remains active until February 25, 2026, giving interested students a limited timeframe to submit their applications. Those seeking additional information may direct inquiries to office.csc@northsouth.edu.
