NSU and ICESCO Host Landmark International Symposium on Digital Trust & Security. North South University (NSU), in collaboration with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), successfully hosted the 1st International Symposium on Digital Trust & Security in Space and Academic Ecosystems on 08 April 2026 (Wednesday) at Syndicate Hall, NSU.
The hybrid event brought together 340 registered participants from 57 countries, including government officials, academics, media professionals, and students. Distinguished speakers included ICESCO Director General Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, NSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Pakistan’s Minister of Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi, SUPARCO Chairman Muhammad Yusuf Khan, Space Foundation COO Shelli Brunswick, and other global experts from academia, space law, and cybersecurity.
Key discussions focused on protecting university information systems, cyber threats in higher education, space-cybersecurity vulnerabilities, governance frameworks, and international cooperation.
The symposium reinforced NSU’s role as a regional hub for cybersecurity excellence. Actionable next steps include distributing a media best practices document, engaging the International Institute of Space Law for regulatory support, ICESCO’s expansion to 10 countries, and inviting universities to submit capacity-building proposals through NSU as a strategic partner.
