NSU Launches ‘Frontiers in Environmental Thought’ Distinguished Lecture Series. North South University’s (NSU) Department of Environmental Science and Management (ESM), in collaboration with the Earth Club, inaugurated its distinguished lecture series, Frontiers in Environmental Thought, a new academic initiative designed to promote intellectual exchange and advance contemporary discourse on environmental science, education, and sustainability.

The lecture was held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at AUDI 801, North South University. The event was graced by the presence of Professor Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of North South University, and Professor Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHLS), whose participation reflected the University’s continued support for academic excellence and collaborative scholarship.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by Professor Emeritus A. T. M. Nurul Amin, one of Bangladesh’s most respected environmental scholars. In his keynote address, “Frontier of Environmental Education: Road Less Travelled,” he reflected on the evolution of environmental education, its growing significance in addressing global environmental issues, and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Drawing upon decades of academic leadership and scholarship, Professor Amin shared valuable insights into the role of environmental education in fostering sustainable development and shaping future generations of environmental professionals.
