NSU ACM Hosts Global CS Education Pioneer Dr. Valentina Dagienė. The NSU ACM Student Chapter has announced an upcoming exclusive session featuring world-renowned educator Professor Dr. (HP) Valentina Dagienė. The event, titled “Computational Thinking and Problem Solving” is scheduled to take place at North South University, marking a significant milestone for the institution’s academic outreach.
Professor Dagienė joins the seminar from the Institute of Data Science and Digital Technologies at Vilnius University, Lithuania. She is widely recognized as the founder of the Bebras International Informatics Contest, a global initiative that has transformed computer science education for millions of students across dozens of countries.
The session aims to dismantle the myth that computational thinking is reserved solely for computer programmers. Instead, the lecture will present these concepts as essential life skills focusing on structured reasoning, analytical problem-solving, and cross-disciplinary innovation. This approach aligns with modern global trends where logical decomposition and algorithmic thinking are applied to fields ranging from business to the humanities.
University student organizers have confirmed that the session is open to students from all departments, emphasizing the universal relevance of the topic. To facilitate a collaborative environment, the organizers have arranged for refreshments to be provided to all attendees.
The event is set for March 1st, 2026, with proceedings running from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM. The venue is confirmed as AUDI801. Students are encouraged to attend this rare gathering to gain insights from one of the most influential voices in digital literacy today.
