IEEE NSU Celebrates a Year of Excellence at Annual WIE Wrap 2026. The North South University campus buzzed with inspiration on February 16th as the IEEE NSU Student Branch WIE Affinity Group gathered at Audi 801 for their year-end celebratory event, the Annual WIE Wrap. Starting at 6:00 PM, the evening served as both a reflection on a successful term and a strategic roadmap for the future of women in engineering. Dr. Fariah Mahzabeen, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the group’s Faculty Advisor, opened the proceedings with a warm reception for volunteers and executive members, praising the collective dedication that has fueled the organization’s growth.
A core theme of the evening was the critical mission of gender inclusivity within STEM sectors. Dr. Mahzabeen highlighted the ongoing necessity of empowering women in professional engineering roles, a sentiment echoed by the executive leadership. Chairperson Shaira Imtiaz Aurchi and External Secretary Farhana Rahman provided a candid look at the logistical hurdles faced during the term, specifically focusing on the challenges of boosting female participation in technical programming. Their insights offered a transparent view of the administrative effort required to maintain an inclusive platform.
The event featured personal narratives that illustrated the professional impact of the organization. Technical Vice Chair Mostakim Rubaiyat shared how his involvement facilitated his mastery of graphic design and the enhancement of his professional digital presence, while also reflecting on his experience leading hardware projects. Internal Secretary Fatima Binti Naz Joya followed with a recount of her journey, emphasizing her role in motivating women to step into the spotlight during various university events. Contributions from Treasurer Abdullah Al Galib and Activity Vice Chair Tanjim Jarif further reinforced the importance of building robust networks that champion female engineers.
The executive body provided a comprehensive review of the year’s milestones, identifying effective collaboration and strategic planning as the primary drivers of their success. This Annual General Meeting segment was designed to align the membership with the organization’s vision for 2026, urging younger members to adopt leadership roles and contribute innovative concepts for upcoming initiatives. The dialogue transitioned from past challenges to future potential, ensuring that the next generation of student leaders feels equipped to carry the mantle.
The atmosphere shifted from formal reporting to festive celebration with a cake-cutting ceremony marking a prestigious hat-trick. For the third consecutive year, the IEEE NSU WIE Affinity Group secured the Outstanding Student Branch Award within the Bangladesh Section. This achievement was celebrated alongside vibrant cultural performances and interactive segments that strengthened the bonds between members. By the end of the night, the Annual WIE Wrap had successfully bridged the gap between celebration and purpose, leaving the community motivated to continue their pursuit of excellence and female empowerment in the engineering world.
