NSU Alumni in USA Gather for Third Annual Iftar Event in New York. The North South University (NSU) Alumni Association USA recently held its third annual Iftar and prayer session in New York. The event took place on Saturday, March 7, at the Chef Mahal Restaurant in Jackson Heights. Many former NSU students attended the gathering along with their family members to share a meal and connect during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Consul General of Bangladesh in New York, Najmul Huda, attended the event as the chief guest. He praised the alumni for their hard work in staying connected while living abroad. During his speech, he promised that the Bangladesh Consulate in New York is always ready to help international students and new NSU graduates who move to the United States for their studies or careers.
Several community leaders and professionals also joined the program, including Mohammad Hashem, the CEO of Karnaphuli Tax and Home Care. Business leaders, immigration lawyers, and social activists were present to show their support. They all spoke about how important it is for the alumni to keep helping each other and promised to support the association’s future goals.
A dedicated team of organizers worked together to make the event a success. This group included Mizanur Rahman, Wasimul Ratul, Azimul Huq, Zulhaj Ahmed, Tamjid Ahmed, Asif Hasan, Shafi Amin, Ibn Al Hiyam, Farabi Chowdhury, Dr. Sami Islam, Afzal Chowdhury Emon, Shah Farhan Rabbani, Araf Ahmed, Tasnim Hasan, Anika Tabassum Khan, Rehnuma Jholok, and Syed Irteza.
For the last few years, this organization has been a big help to the NSU community in America. They do more than just host dinners; they help new arrivals find housing, connect people with job opportunities, and offer legal advice. They also focus on mental health awareness and organize sports events to keep the community active. So far, the group has successfully organized nearly ten large meetings for former students across the United States, building a strong network for everyone who studied at NSU.
