Rising Demand for Cyber Skills Evident in NSU Training Program Debut. North South University (NSU), through its NSU Cybersecurity Center, successfully inaugurated the first cohort of its Cybersecurity Training Program (Course 1) on April 17, 2026, marking a significant milestone in advancing cybersecurity education in Bangladesh.
The initiative, supported by the APAC Cybersecurity Fund under The Asia Foundation in partnership with Google.org, has already demonstrated remarkable impact. A total of 1,298 applications were received, from which only 140 participants were selected through a competitive screening process. In response to overwhelming student interest, the program expanded beyond its initial plan, successfully running four cohorts. The inaugural class alone hosted 115 students, reflecting an unprecedented level of engagement and demand.
Participation across cohorts exceeded expectations, with students from diverse academic disciplines enrolling in large numbers. This strong turnout highlights a growing awareness among young learners of the importance of cybersecurity skills in today’s digital economy. The organizers implemented structured cohort allocations to ensure effective delivery and maintain a high standard of training despite the surge in registrations.
Course 1 is designed as a comprehensive introduction to cybersecurity, blending theoretical foundations with hands-on application. The program incorporates pre-assessments, intensive training sessions, and post-session evaluations to reinforce learning outcomes. Participants engage with real-world cybersecurity scenarios, gaining practical insights into threat detection, risk mitigation, and digital defense strategies.
