NSU Vice-Chancellor Speaks at Social Impact Day 2026 in Hong Kong. Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, who’s the Chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Grameen Bank and Vice-Chancellor of North South University went to Hong Kong to attend Social Impact Day 2026. He gave an inspiring talk about new ways to help people who are poor in Bangladesh. The event was organized by Fullness Social Enterprises Society Limited on March 28 2026. It brought together important people who are working on social innovation, entrepreneurship and public policy. They all talked about the theme “Poverty in Museums: The Future We Build Through Social Innovation.”

Hong Kongs Policy Chief Opens the Event

Dr Wong said that Fullness Social Enterprises Society Limited is doing a job. They are not just organizing events. They are actually making a difference in peoples lives. FSES was started in 2011 by a group of volunteers who wanted to use their skills to help their community. Now they are one of the important groups in Hong Kong that are working on social innovation.

Three Pathways of Scaling Social Innovation

Dr Wong talked about three ways that social innovation can be scaled up in Hong Kong. First he said that it can be done through markets. He gave the example of Diamond Cab, which’s a taxi service that is accessible to people with disabilities. This service has made a difference in the lives of many people.

Second Dr Wong said that social innovation can be scaled up through government. He gave the example of the Light Be Light Home programme, which provides housing to families who are waiting for housing. This programme has been very successful.

Third Dr Wong said that social innovation can be scaled up through the sector. He gave the example of a project that is helping children from ethnic minority groups to learn Chinese. This project has been very successful.
