NSU FIFA World Cup Quiz 2026 Attracts 1,000+ Participants. North South University’s (NSU) School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) has successfully hosted the NSU World Cup Quiz Competition 2026, bringing together more than 1,000 registered students from classes VIII to XII in one of the country’s largest school-level football quiz competitions. The event featured a total prize pool of BDT 100,000.
Students from educational institutions across Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Narsingdi, Barishal, Jashore, Rangpur, and Cox’s Bazar, participated in the competition. A total of 520 teams, comprising 1,040 students, competed in multiple rounds that tested their knowledge of football history, FIFA World Cups, legendary players, and iconic moments from the sport.
The champion team received BDT 50,000, while the first and second runners-up were awarded BDT 30,000 and BDT 20,000, respectively. The prizes were presented by the distinguished guests. Alongside the quiz competition, the event also featured an engaging show-and-debate between Brazilian and Argentinian football supporters, performed by NSU students, adding to the festive atmosphere of the day.

The competition was graced by Mr. Benajir Ahmed, Founder Life Member and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of North South University, as the Chief Guest. Sheikh Camara, Ivorian footballer, attended the event as the Special Guest. The program was chaired by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of NSU, while the opening address was delivered by Professor Md. Rizwanul Islam, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
In his opening remarks, Professor Md. Rizwanul Islam warmly welcomed the participants, teachers, and guardians. He said, “The true winner of today’s quiz competition is the sportsmanship shown by our participants. Even after bowing out of the competition, they stood tall, clapping and cheering for their fellow peers. Their passion for learning and their boundless enthusiasm for showcasing their football knowledge is truly commendable.”
Expressing his appreciation for the event, Chief Guest Mr. Benajir Ahmed remarked, “Seeing the incredible participation of such young students in today’s competition has been absolutely exhilarating! We hope the same energy and passion you brought to NSU’s football craze will drive you to build a brighter future for our nation.”
Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury praised the students’ enthusiasm, stating, “FIFA World Cup celebrations are deeply rooted in NSU’s culture, and today’s quiz competition expands on that legacy. Education should never be confined to the classroom; the vibrant exchange of ideas and knowledge we witnessed today is crucial to a well-rounded curriculum. At NSU, we actively promote and inspire these diverse intellectual pursuits.”
The championship title was won by Team “Offside Offenders,” comprising Md. Samiul Islam and Abdullah Al Rafsan from Mirpur Cantonment Public School and College. The first runners-up were Team “Rigged & Ready,” represented by Faiyad Zayed from Bangladesh International School & College (BISC) and Raheeb Bin Reza from Rajuk Uttara Model College. The second runners-up were Team “NO BENCH,” consisting of Aosaf Wasit from BAF Shaheen College and Arman Hossain from Dhaka City College.
Since its inception, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at NSU has remained committed to fostering both academic excellence and extracurricular engagement. In addition to creating diverse platforms for university and school students, the School has recently introduced two new undergraduate degree programs in History and Sociology. Following the success of the World Cup Quiz Competition, the organizers expressed their delight at welcoming school-College students to the NSU campus and reaffirmed their commitment to organizing more youth-focused initiatives in the future.
